Born on Mordian as Aiden Fairweather.
Father (Augustus Fairweather) is the current head of the Fairweather free trade family
Fairweather family is wealthy, but disdained by the Tetrarchs (local government) as being upjumped merchants with no real noble heritage
Against his father’s wishes, Aiden applied to join the Mordian Iron Guard as a commissioned officer.
For this act, Aiden was disowned by his father.
Because the Iron Guard draws its officers from the nobility, Aiden’s application was refused.
Aiden persisted, enlisting as a common guardsman.
However, due to his self-entitled nature and lack of discipline or willpower, Aiden was quickly drummed out of the ranks.
Suddenly penniless and adrift, Aiden turned to the thriving criminal underworld of Mordian’s Hives.
After several harsh months on the streets, Aiden found employment as an accountant for a crime lord.
He showed great talent at cooking books and laundering money, but he personally held loftier desires.
Soon, an opportunity presented itself: a rival crime lord was looking to consolidate his power and reached out to Aiden for aid.
Aiden agreed to help, but secretly played both sides against each other [see: Yojimbo]
In a final, grisly confrontation, Aiden personally killed both crime lords, consolidated their criminal empires, and became the Iron Lord of Megacity 14.
The Iron Lord ruled his criminal empire through violence and terror. He ruthlessly eliminated all those who opposed him and held a “take no prisoners” policy regarding the Arbites.
Soon his power rivaled even that of some of the Tetrarchs. During this time, he enjoyed a lifestyle of privilege and excess that his father could only dream of.
However, as his sphere of influence expanded, his enemies multiplied. Soon, Aiden’s activities came to the attention of the Iron Guard.
The ensuing conflict was horrific and bloody and left Megacity 14 a smoking ruin.
His men slaughtered and his power structures torn down, Aiden fled Mordian.
However, he was soon captured… by the Rogue Trader Haarlock.
Rather than turning Aiden over to the authorities, Lord Captain Haarlock decided to employ the Iron Lord. He assisted in fashioning a new identity for Aiden (a congenial, drug-addled merchant named Winston) and eventually (after proving his skill in commerce, subterfuge, and terror) trained him in Xenography and put him to work managing the dynasty’s cold trade.
Though official records indicate that Aiden “Iron Lord” Fairweather was killed by an Arbites assault team, he continues to live on in legend as one of the most feared agents of the Haarlock Dynasty.
