Bio:
Kavik Draque was born to war. His father was Theonas Draque – Protector of Cadia, Lord Marshal of the Cadian 12th Legion, and Slayer of Arch-Heretic Belial. So, from his earliest days, Kavik had a daunting reputation to live up to. Furthermore, with his mother gone (killed by Chaos raiders when he was mere months old), there were no moderating influences in young Kavik’s life. And so, he was raised in the strictest military tradition.
At the earliest acceptable age, Kavik enlisted in the Cadian Guard and was commissioned into the Cadian 8th Infantry Regiment as a 3rd Lieutenant. There, he served under Commissar Yordan in defense of the Cadian Gate. Occasionally at terrible cost. Once, he was forced to employ pirate forces to cleanse an Imperial colony that had been tainted by the forces of Chaos. The Emperor’s Will was done, but Kavik will live forever with the horrors he witnessed that day. Kavik proved his valor countless times against the hordes of Chaos and quickly rose through the ranks. It was during this extended campaign that Kavik’s father, Theonas, died. Strangely enough for a guardsman, it was of natural causes. Still, his father’s death had a profound impact on Kavik. He requested an immediate transfer and, having recently earned his General’s stars, was given command of the Cadian 180th “Stalking Tigers” Armored Infantry Regiment and ordered to engage and halt the advance of the invading Goff WAAAGH!
Kavik’s campaign against the Goffs was long and brutal. It was during this time that he encountered both Triox Kalin, a tech priest stranded on a remote outpost who Kavik rescued and returned to Imperial space, and Lilyth Renatus, a Guard Commander who Kavik aided in joining the Ecclesiarchy. After years of fierce fighting on dozens of worlds, the Orks were finally driven back to the edges of Imperial space. By now, the “Stalking Tigers” had suffered significant casualties and were now grossly undermanned and rapidly running out of ammunition. Fortunately, earlier in his campaign, Kavik had aided a planetary governor by the name of Lucan Nicostratus against the Orks and whether it was out of a sense of indebtedness, personal duty to the Emperor, or just to having something to hold over him, Nicostratus contributed significant assets in men and materiel to Kavik’s beleaguered fighting force. Later, Nicostratus’s true motives would be revealed in the form of his son, Herodion Nicostratus.
With the newly replenished Cadian 180th, Kavik was finally able to take the fight to the Orks. The conclusive series of battles occurred on a hell-hole of a backwater known as Dust. However, even this god-forsaken place yielded surprising fruit. Outside of the confines of the beleaguered Imperial Guard watch post, the natives of Dust had been systematically and thoroughly subjugated by king of sorts. Kavik sought out this individual, a skilled warrior going by the name of Victrix. Recognizing her talent not only as a fighter, but as a commander – not to mention a desire to be free of this hell-hole – Kavik promptly offered Victrix a commission as his First Lieutenant. She brought with her nearly a division worth of battle-hardened feral-world soldiers that, once equipped with standard-issue Imperial STC arms, proved an imposing fighting force. Together, Kavik and Victrix laid waste to the opposing Ork forces and drove their shattered remnants from Dust and the Segmentum Obscuris altogether.
Upon his victorious return to the Segmentum Solar to present the trophies of war to the Administratum and report the success of his crusade, Kavik was received with a hero’s welcome. In fact, his campaign against the Goffs had been so successful, the Administratum had deemed his successes worthy of even greater rewards. An ancient Warrant of Trade, dating back to a long-since failed trade empire established during the Angevin Crusade, was dusted off and re-issued, thus establishing Kavik Draque as the first Rogue Trader of the Draque Dynasty.
Now, all he needs is a crew…
