I wasn’t born in the void, but some days it feels like I’ve been out here long enough that I might as well have been. I can fly just about any ship you thow at me and I know the Koronus Expanse better than any sane person would ever want to. If you pay cash and ask nice, there’s not a whole lot I won’t do and I can’t imagine a much better gig than working on a Rogue Trader vessel. See the universe, share the glory of the empire, all that jazz.

No idea of my parentage, and I don’t much care, either. Left the orphanage as young as I could and made my way in the world fighting, stealing, and the like. Fell in with some intellectual free-thinking types and got some learning without paying for it. Not a bad deal if you ask me. That could’ve been it, too: scraping the bottom of the barrel in a backwater town on a backwater planet.

Then one night you go to the wrong bar and wake up with a killer headache and a new life plan concocted in someone else’s noggin. Nowhere to escape but the void. Learned most of what I know on that ship—the piloting and whatnot—but I’ll say one thing for us backwater settlers: we don’t do well cages, no matter what they’re made of.

Parted ways with that crew after a bit. Occasionally hear stories in port that some terrible calamity befell that ship not long after I left, but it makes little difference to me what became of them.

Since then, I do what I do, see what I can. Not a bad life, really.
