Collateral Damage executive reports 1

The crew receive reports

This update contains private player information in the sections below. Each crew member has received personal communications or reports from their subordinates aboard the Collateral Damage.

These messages and reports were all delivered several days after the translation into Warp leaving Footfall in pursuit of the Gilded Hook.

+++MASTER OF WHISPERS’ REPORT+++
+++ENCRYPTION PROTOCOL DQ3-A+++

At the Lord-Captain’s request I have prepared a preliminary report of the political appointees to the COLLATERAL DAMAGE in positions of authority. He may peruse the analysis below at his leisure but he will find the contents largely lacking in matters of significant political intrigue. The appointments handed out aboard this ship would appear to be strictly Administrationis Porci, with no directly antagonistic saboteurs placed among their ranks.

I will draw the Lord-Captain’s attention however to one individual: Rubela Winthers, commercial cargo-master. Her credit accounts trace back to a thinly-disguised shell corporation on Footfall owned by the Montresor family, and she was responsible for two communiques between the COLLATERAL DAMAGE and this corporation during the ship’s recent stopover there. These communiques were ostensibly for the purposes of supply coordination but no purchases were made. Furthermore, her personal account shows an incrementally larger balance than it did prior to landing at Footfall, suggesting the first installment of a slow and surreptitious payment.

The attached portfolio on Montresor holdings and history will refresh the Lord-Captain’s recollections that this family held the deed to the COLLATERAL DAMAGE prior to the Imperial Guard’s purchase. Now that the ship is once again in privately owned hands, Lady Amelia may seek to restore possession.

Recommended course of action: interrogate Winthers and ascertain her loyalties. Dispose and replace as necessary. Alternately, take no overt action and continue monitoring.

Genetor: I trust that your integration into the Ship’s systems has been an educational and exciting Experience, for there are few ships in the Calixis Sector that can boast a craftsmanship so ancient and refined as can be found aboard the Bridge—to say nothing of the plating—so I must only imagine that you are eager at the prospect of interfacing with such archaic Technology and uncovering its secrets as embodied by its ancient Machine-Spirit, and therefore I invite you to converse at some length with me (via servoskull-proxy or embodied attendants, for the rituals of Navigation prevent me from leaving my Oculus, and moreover are too delicate to be disturbed by any uninitiated in the hereditary Rites) regarding the nature and Temperament of said entity, by which I may convey to you the Secrets gleaned by my extensive and intimate familiarity with this Spirit.

Kind regards,
Orpheus

+++ENCRYPTION PROTOCOL DQ3-C+++

Chr Renatus: the investigation I conducted recently on your behalf revealed that a junior member of your Medicae Corps (Cpl Lars Kangle) had been responsible for the theft of several varieties of supplies which were being resold on the Port Wander black market. Although this individual was identified, apprehended, and disposed per your wishes, my reports indicate that the disappearance of supplies has not fully ceased with the individual’s removal. The most valuable medical stuffs are all accounted for, but two palliative and mildly euphoric compounds—Trioxiphene and Detritol—have steadily decreased in stock at the same rate as they did during the period of theft incidents.

Crew shift patterns implicate Cpl Jervis Flatsen as the most likely miscreant. Cpl Flatsen has been on duty in the pharmacy during 60% of the last two weeks, stationed both solo and with other Medicae Corps soldiers. Cpl Flatsen is also on record as maintaining a personal relationship with Cpl Kangle during his off-duty hours.

As the corporal is within your command structure I leave it to you to decide the course of further investigation and/or punishment.

O Highest of Factotums,

I do hope you’ll let Goatie and I complete our promise to entertain you in a night on the town. Our evening at Temple Station was grievously cut short by the ridiculous introduction of Burne’s embarrassment of weaponry. For a master-at-arms, the man clearly doesn’t know the first thing about distributing boltguns to a beetle.

Come find us in the officer’s mess and we’ll make sure you enjoy an entire night—or as much of one as can be found within the Sea of Souls.

Ever so sincerely,
Lt. Aldous Burnescour

Please find attached a report of the Macutian Situation, including an account of the unrest and tensions observed within the lower ranks as a result of the refugees’ displacement into crew quarters. No outright insubordination has reared its head to any significant degree.

Also please find attached a proposal (unsolicited) on the reallocation of resources to serve as colonial seed for the eventual departure of the Macutians. You will note that it does not require an expenditure of more than 3% of the ship’s stores on an immediate basis and requires no more than one return trip to Footfall from the estimated colony location to replenish initial disbursements.

Also please find attached for your consideration, multiple yearly associated shipping schedules.

+++MASTER-AT-ARMS’ REPORT+++
+++ENCRYPTION PROTOCOL VX1-1+++

Prepared by: Cdr. Theodore Gottfried

Attached: Combat readiness ratings for all divisions, followed by rankings for each platoon and subheadings for individual squads.

Summary: While most troops are in prime condition (as befits a military ship under new command on her maiden voyage into the Expanse) members of the 3rd and 8th Platoons are well behind the standard deviation for physical fitness and aptitude in weapon drills. Recommend stricter training regimens be applied, followed by command structure reorganization as necessary.

Addendum: The members of the Macutian expedition have largely received no military or combat training, yet their discipline is admirable and their religious devotion unimpeachable. All have received capable survival training in the Macutian wilderness. Should they not find the new home they seek, recommend integration into armed forces and special training as planetary reconnaissance.

+++FIRST OFFICER – MEMORANDUM+++
+++ENCRYPTION PROTOCOL VX1-1+++

Cdr. Gottfried, please continue as planned. Over the next week, I will arrive in barracks at 0400 to, personally, take groups of the 3rd and 8th Platoons through my personal drills. You will have them back at exactly 1300 to do with as you will—your current plans for them are commendable. Be advised that they may be useless until the next day (and will need hosing off). I trust your judgement in regards to restructuring command.

I am pleased to hear positive news about the Macutians. Your report has been noted, feel free to train as you see the need. No doubt they could benefit from combat training regardless of if they end up on-world or part of the crew. They are—as of leaving Footfall—now part of the Draque Dynasty.
